Church of San Bernabé Apostol

Ceremony starts: 12:30

Address:  C. de Iglesia, 9, 28280 El Escorial, Madrid

History: Built in the 18th century as part of the urban development promoted by Philip The II after the construction of the Monastery of El Escorial.

The temple was built on the site of a simpler earlier church and was consecrated in honour of Saint Barnabas, patron saint of the town. Its architecture reflects the Herrerian style, in keeping with the monumental surroundings.

Over time, it has been a key religious and social centre for the inhabitants of El Escorial.

El Molino Tornero

Celebration starts: 13:30 aprox.

Address: Calleja del Tamajón, 28280 El Escorial, Madrid

History: The first written references to Molino Tornero date back to the early 15th century (around 1410), making it one of the oldest buildings in the town.

In 1576, Philip II ordered its expansion, adding six millstones and a granary to supply flour to the stonemasons and workers of the monastery. It remained in operation as a flour mill until the end of the 19th century.

In 1960, it was acquired by Laura’s grandpartents, the Jove family.
